Easter Traditions

Let’s not wait for Good Friday to think about all the things we love about Easter. The store is starting to fill with bunnies in many forms— the brioche and chocolate bunnies got us dreaming of Easter baskets. The Catering Department at Eli’s loves the menus and traditions that surround this holiday and look forward to planning menus with you.

A tisket, a tasket, …

…the Easter Bunny brought a basket and it was filled with eggs of every sweet description: jelly beans, chocolate, marshmallow and cookie. You’ll find plush bunnies, rubber ducks and surprises for every age, neatly packed in a French crate.

While we wait for Spring to arrive….

…you’ll find us drinking Chablis. Zesty. Bright. Vibrant. Mineral. Savory. All adjectives that apply to the wines of Chablis, the most northern region of Burgundy. All too often underrated and overlooked by wine lovers, these wines share a purity, brightness and versatility that we love. We’ll be tasting and talking about them a lot in March while we scan the horizon for the first signs of Spring.

Spring is in the air….

By the stem, in a nosegay, a lavish bouquet or centerpiece, the focus is on carefully crafted arrangements mixed with untraditional choices. Easter and Passover are on the horizon, why not think about how you want to make a floral statement for the holiday?

 What's on Eli's Mind

I start saying "Spring is in the air…" on the first warm day in February and I keep it up till it comes true. A sort of fake-it-till- you-make-it season inducer. At this point any sign of the warmer weather ahead can thrill me—asparagus and rhubarb in the produce department, the arrival of the first soft shell crabs. All these things are reasons to feel optimistic which can often be hard on a grey, wet day, no matter the month.
