As they did on the corner of 79th & 3rd and 91st & Madison, Eli and Oliver Zabar have transformed another Eli's Essentials Grab and Go cafe into a neighborhood destination. Come 5:30pm, the corner of 87th Street & Lexington Avenue becomes Bar 87, a wine bar. Urban European in feeling—one friend has referred to the concept as "...very Milanese train station”—Bar 87 will serve a menu of market-driven small plates with the same fresh and simple sensibility that Eli has endorsed and practiced over the last 45 years.
