Where do we source our flowers from?

Spring is always in the air in the flower department at Eli’s where we are currently enjoying cut flowers from Holland, France, Japan and Israel. We don’t have long to wait before we will start to see seasonal, locally grown blooms, potted herbs and plants for windowsills and boxes.

Tips for keeping flowers alive?

For cut flowers, keep the vessel and water clean; give your stems a fresh cut every day. Most flowers have a 4–7-day vase life. but if water is not cleaned, and stems trimmed every other day bacteria can settle in and shorten the lives of the hardiest flowers. For the houseplants blooming on your windowsills, water in the morning before the sun is on the plants and water per plant requirements. We provide care instructions! Current recommendations include potted herbs for pleasure and to snip into recipes.

Sarah’s Seasonal Favorites

Sarah loves the earliest signs of the season - muscari, fritillaria and hellebore quickly followed the real stuff spring is made of - tulips, daffodils, hyacinth. These are wonderful as potted plants and cut flowers. Where would we be without the real indicators of longer days and warmer breezes - the blooming branches. Double blossom cherry, dogwood, plum, forsythia all make wonderful statements and big impression. Let us help you get Spring into your hands and home.
