Eli's Flower Shop

Where do we source our flowers from?

It can be hard to connect to nature in New York, but just inside the front door at Eli’s you’ll find a Flower Department that Mother Nature might call home. At the moment, Eli’s flower shop is receiving flowers flown in daily from the Dutch auctions and the Cote d’Azur. The flower power team, lead by Sarah Wright is truly passionate about their work - product care and handling is their daily purpose; creating gorgeous, natural arrangements for you is their passion. Current recommendations include forced bulbs—tulips, hyacinth, daffodils! A wonderful way to enjoy color and fragrance while waiting for Spring.

Tips for keeping flowers alive?

For cut flowers, keep the vessel and water clean; give your stems a fresh cut every day. Most flowers have a 4-7 day vase life but if water is not cleaned, and stems trimmed every other day bacteria can settle in and shorten even the lives of the hardiest flowers. Never put fresh cut flowers in direct sunlight -- keep them as cool as possible! For houseplants, window boxes and terrace containers, always water in the morning before the sun is on the plants and water often. Trim dead leaves and flowers to keep the plants blooming over and over.

Sarah’s Seasonal Favorites

At this time of year quince, camellia, forsythia and magnolia branches are an easy way to bring a hint of Spring into your own home. We cut to order and love suggesting urns and vessels that easily support these colorful, structural beauties!
